3 years ago the industrial initiative Dii was brought into life to begin the journey of making the Desertec vision reality, which incorporates using desert renewable energy potential for Europe, the Middle East and North Africa (EUMENA).
Now, Dii will publish the strategic framework „Desert Power 2050: Perspectives on a Sustainable Power System for EUMENA”, which illustrates that all three regions can achieve the change to a CO2 free electricity supply based on renewable energy more efficiently when working together. At the same time, regions which possess the optimal renewable resources and the demand centers can be brought together.
On June 21st 2012 Dii invites journalists to a press conference in Munich to present them this long term strategic framework. Paul van Son and Dr Aglaia Wieland (Dii´s Managing Directors), together with Dr Mario Ragwitz, Head of the business unit Renewable Energies at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI), who contributed among others fundamentally to our study, will be there to answer all journalists’ questions.
By 10 am on June 21st, accompanying information to the publication of “Desert Power 2050” will be available in Arabic, English, French and German on our website.
