NREA (New and Renewable Energy Authority) and Dii agree to work together closely in Egypt

The Egyptian State Authority for New & Renewable Energy (NREA) and Dii signed a memorandum of understanding to increase their collaboration which will support local institutions to create renewable energy capacities and accelerate the dissemination of RE projects in Egypt.

Desert Power 2050 is a strategy document that looks at the creation of a sustainable integrated power system in EUMENA. The document is divided into two parts:

The first part, “Perspectives on a Sustainable Power System for EUMENA” demonstrates that an interconnected power system based on 90% renewable energy is feasible and economically valuable. The report provides a target scenario by examining future energy needs and challenges of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

The second part, “Getting Started”, to be published in June 2013, will provide a pathway towards an interconnected energy system. It will take a closer look at the technologies and countries taking us through the process step-by-step from the first gigawatts produced through the hundreds to be generated. This report will furthermore formulate recommendations on the appropriate policy choices that need to be made.
