Almost 400 scientific, political and economic representatives from 33 countries, with equal share from MENA and from Europe, attended the 2nd Dii Desert Energy Conference in Cairo which was held under the patronage of the Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf.
Participants exchanged about the following topics: international co-operation for desert energy, regulatory challenges and success factors of large scale renewable projects, long distance transmission solutions, integration of renewable energy into the markets, sustainable development and export opportunities for North African and Middle Eastern countries. In cooperation with the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA), Dii arranged a debate on mobilizing public and private funding.
